Why Senior Computing 101 Is Important

“Modern technology is worderful and seniors should not be left out of experiencing the World Wide Web and the global market of today”

Learning to use a computer is a new experience for many seniors and the idea of exploring and interacting in the global digital world can be quite thrilling. A computer can help seniors stay in touch with their families via emailing and chatting, keeping their minds active by learning new skills, build new relationships by enabling communication with people who share their interests and allow the productive of marketing their Native American products.

However, for those who have never used a computer before, it can be intimidating and overwhelming. Many seniors want to learn how to use computers but they may lack confidence in their own ability to do so. Without ever having been exposed to words such as “URL address bar” or “text box”, novice computer users would be unlikely to understand directions using those terms. I know it is necessary to explain concepts and instructions in a reliable way such as learning to use unfamiliar computer jargon.

With years of experience in computers, technical support and teaching, I know how to move in incremental steps when teaching new skills. I can help overcome these worries, which is why I offer friendly, comprehensive, on-going support for seniors interested in taking Computing 101 classes even “how tos”.
